About 5-a-Side
The Cottee's Schools 5-a-Side concept is extremely simple and will be replicated across Australia. Invites are sent out to a cluster of schools in an area where the gala day will be held.
Up to 8 schools are able to take part in any one day with each school supplying three teams (girls', boys' and a mixed team).
A school attending a Cottee's Schools 5-a-side will play a minimum of 5 games in a round robin format. The simplified rules make the main focus of the day all about participation and enjoyment. This ensures that boys and girls of any ability are able to be included in teams and able to enjoy a day of football. These simplified rules allow teachers or older students who do not have any football experience to oversee the games and act as the Game Leader.

- Cottee?s Schools 5-a-side is participation based: a fun, enjoyable, relaxed, non-competitive environment
- 27,000 children are expected to participate in one of 180 events held around the country in 2011
- NSW have held the largest day with over 450 children at one venue
- Over 25,000 kids have participated since 2009.
- The program operates in both metro and regional areas.
